Custom Fabrication

This page contains some of the custom equipment that I’ve fabricated for the boat or for fishing.  I will use a combination of various tools, including a desktop CNC, 3D printers, and regular shop tools.

Knife Holder

This knife holder was made using a CNC on HDPE.  It contains 10 slots for knives or dehookers and 2 larger slots for pliers, scissors, etc.  There is a custom logo on the front and it is assembled using stainless screws.  No rust observed as of this post after 3 years on-board.

Bait Table

This bait table is also CNC cut from HDPE.  It was designed for rigging tuna bait (mackerel, whiting, herring, etc.) using a needle and rubber bands.  There is a custom slot for the needle to prevent it from dropping on the deck and pre-drilled holes to hold the hooks.   It was made out of necessity to prevent bending down on a cooler or bucket to rig the bait.

Baitwell Bait Holder

When mackerel or any bait fish is rigged on a line, it becomes almost impossible to manage lines when checking bait or moving to locations if the fish are not isolated.  Placing 3 rigged, live baits in a baitwell causes a mess to detangle when arriving at a location.  We usually fish 3 lines, so with this device 2 baits are isolated in “vented” PVC tubes with a cap to allow for water flow.  The 3rd bait can swim freely in the baitwell without tangling the other lines.  The device is simply PVC pipe with drilled holes, a 3D printed cap and a bathroom suction mount, all zip tied together.

Gauge Cover – Yamaha

A friend on the dock asked me to create a cover for a new Yamaha gauge that he got installed.  This cover is 3D printed and has the name of his boat on it.
